Muay Thai was developed by the Thai people to defend themselves in the struggle for land. In the 1500's it became popular as a sport similar to western boxing but with the additional weapons of Kicks, Knees and elbows. It has continued to evolve and gain popularity spreading around the world. Many recognise it as being a tough stand up combat sport.
