Lynn Pearce Photographer 2.45

Largely self taught, Lynn’s curiosity led her to pursue photography with early but modest success in landscape- an environment which continues to captivate her vision to this day. Working with artists and photographers within her framing business since 1987, the process of preparing for an exhibition was very familiar to Lynn until she came to prepare for her first solo exhibition in 2001 in Balmain.
“ I thought I’d have a good body of work just by selecting my favourites. But a friend who had exhibited many times walked me through the images to make it like a journey the viewer was being led through, each image complimenting the next in some small gesture thus creating a visual story.”
Since then, Lynn has not looked back and extended her explorations of landscape and streetscape into black & white film photography. Studying for the first time in dark room printing, Lynns’ imagination was further opened to a more artistic expression once she clinched the disciplines of fine art printing under the tutorage of Gordon Undy at Point Light Gallery.
Lynn’s current project ‘the village on the harbour –Balmain’ is testimony to her empathy for the character of the village in which she has lived and worked for the past 10 years.
“ Balmain is steeped in history which is plainly visible to all who visit it’s cafes, pubs and parks. It implores to be photographed in black & white simply to ‘get under the skin’ of it’s working class past and witness the history that still resides here.”
