Kaz’s Googs is now under new ownership! We have recently purchased the Heywood farm and are looking forward to putting our own personal touch on the property while continuing to provide our valued customers with excellent service.

Let us take a minute to introduce ourselves:

Justin is a Portland native, who grew up on a local farm raising beef and sheep, milking dairy cows, and growing spuds. Karin is a former ‘city girl’ from Chicago in the U.S. who has happily converted to country life here in Australia and works locally as a psychologist. We met while volunteering in Southern Africa in 2010 where Justin had started a not-for-profit farming initiative teaching disadvantaged youth how to farm and start their own small businesses and Karin ran a shelter for people rescued out of human trafficking. We got married in 2014 and settled into life in and around Portland, and are excited for the newest chapter of our lives running a chicken farm in Heywood.

We plan on spending the next several months improving the farm and optimizing our stock’s living conditions. We will produce high quality, free-range pastured eggs from happy, healthy chooks. During this time, we may experience some ‘growing pains’ where we may not have our usual quantity of stock available for sale. During the business handover the majority of our chook stock aged out of laying, so please bear with us while we replenish our chook numbers. It takes about 6 months to receive our trademark, high quality Isa Brown layers, and we are anxiously awaiting their arrival in February! Please be patient with us as we make this transition; our egg numbers may drop for a few months, but we are dedicated to reestablishing sustainable stock numbers and serving our valued clients.
