Elanora Heights has its own homeware and gift boutique thanks to two local Mums.
‘Kalang’ specialises in gorgeous products for the home and is set to become a fresh and contemporary interiors destination for the local community and beyond. It stocks unique, on-trend products and offers a colourful, eclectic and ever-changing collection of home furnishings, lighting, kitchenware, gifts and accessories. From sumptuous cushions and classic woven bowls to vintage-style trays and pretty ceramics.
Lucy Davis and Rhian Petch, whose children attend Elanora Heights Public School, decided to set up the shop after seeing a real gap in the market.
“Kalang Road in Elanora Heights is a fantastic, bustling, little community which pretty
much has everything including a bakery, coffee shop, post office, IGA but nowhere to buy
things for your home or gorgeous gifts' says Rhian. “I made an off-the-cuff remark to Lucy
about how well a homeware store would do in Elanora and how much I would love to be
involved in setting one up. She said ‘Well, why don’t we do it?’”

Both Petch and Davis share a passion for interior design and after checking out the last
vacant shop in the newly built buildings in Elanora, they felt it was meant to be. “It just felt right,” says Lucy. “With both of us living in Elanora, we’re already committed to this great community, so setting up a business here just made sense.”

Rhian and Lucy have attended trade shows all around Australia, sourcing beautiful products for their shop. “That’s where we came up with the name. We knew the shop would be bursting with beautiful things, so we looked up the word ‘beautiful’ in different languages, and there was ‘Kalang’ the Aboriginal word for beautiful!” says Rhian.
Kalang opens its doors to the public on November 8th.
