James Cook University’s (JCU) Master of
Teaching and Learning (Primary) is an innovative teacher education program specifically designed with our independent, Catholic education andDepartment of Education and Training (DET) school
partners to prepare highly competent and responsive educators for primary (P-6) school settings. The course is a four phase (18-month) developmentally sequenced professional preparation for those
holding at least a first degree and who value learning about, as well as contributing to, the diverse needs and aspirations of learners and communities. The course is delivered internally at Townsville and Cairns and externally through web-based platforms. Students who study externally can elect to enrol in individual subjects internally.
Career opportunities: Our graduates acquire the specialised knowledge and skills required for ‘day-one-readiness’. Theprogram satisfies requirements for teacher registration at the state and national level through the Queensland College of Teachers. JCU Education, Master of Teaching and Learning graduates will have a highly-respected qualification due to the unique program attributes providing them with a competitive edge in job-seeking, especially
regionally.
