MY PASSION:
I guess I have been a Photographer since i was 15 years old. My Art teacher recognised my passion and sent me home from school armed with his Nikon SLR film camera loaded with black and white film. My high School dark room was my world of creating images that I treasure from that very young age. Portraiture has always been the focus of my attention from capturing the pure tenderness of and infant to finding the timeless personality and individuality from an elderly face.
EDUCATION:
I studied Photography with NSW Tafe 1989, 2003 and 2004. Courses studied included dark room, fine art printing and digital Photography. I have also studied studio and creative lighting courses with well known Newcastle wedding photographers and I have worked and studied with numerous fashion and portrait photographers.
I photographed under a studio from 1988 to 2004 before I started my own business JASPA Photography (Jody Anne Smith Photographic Art).
I also have a cert 111 in business including WHS. I have a working with children Certificate and I have a registered business name with an ABN
INTEGRITY:
Photography is more than just capturing a digital image, its about the relationship that connects the photographer to the subject and the connection is clear and visible in the image that is produced. An Image that gives you an emotional reaction wether it may be a smile or a tear, that is an art form. I find inspiration for my images from artist such as Monet, degas and the surrealism movement. Francesco Scavullo is a photographer of some of the most famous beautiful faces who I also gain inspiration from.
