Unique Accommodation – in harmony with nature, Jandra is a property where “eco friendly” meets function and comfort. The property was developed out of existing buildings at the site of the Northern Highland Travel original Maitland Depot in Thornton. A mob of kangaroos lives in and around the 3 acre property as the family who live there do not own any domestic pets, so they can come and go as they please. The local birdlife includes kookaburras, mopokes, and the endangered Powerful Owl. Other native fauna that have been seen onsite include pygmy possums and echidnas, and there is a population of rabbits around the area that can often be seen.

From an eco-friendly perspective, Jandra’s sole water system comes from large water tanks connected to the property. Water is disposed of using a biocycle septic waste system that waters the gardens around the house. The building which houses the bed and breakfast is also connected to the grid and harvests power from the sun and feeds it back into the National Electricity grid.
