Jackson Gray has been training cutting horses professionally since the Spring of 2011. A former NCHA and AQHA youth rider, he moved through the non pro ranks aboard horses trained by his father, Tamworth pro cutter Phil Gray. With the help of his father and then Inverell-based trainer Phil Dawson, Jackson won many youth buckles, placed fourth at the NHSRA World Finals in Springfield Wyoming USA, and won two NCHA national titles in the $10,000 and Open Non Pro atop Ojay Spinson.

In 2010 Jackson placed equal third in the NCHA Non Pro Futurity aboard Brigitte Bardoc (trained by his father). He finaled in the non pro futurity at all four age-events attended that particular year, then made another three the following year including an equal reserve championship in the CCCC Non Pro Derby.

In July 2011, Jackson commenced a twelve month stint with Tamworth trainer Dean Holden. Taking all of what he learnt from his father Phil, Dean Holden, Phil Dawson and local NCHA hall-of-famer Rob Hodgman, as well as many others, he began training for the public before attaining a job at Sunkissed Quarter Horse Stud in Purga, QLD, in July 2012.

Jackson is also an undergraduate at the University of New England, currently studying Writing and Publishing. He has written and had published well over one hundred stories, editorials and informative pieces.
