The use of ISLPR and other tests for such purposes related to proficiency in English and other languages as:

~Entry to university, TAFE, schools and other registrations
~Measuring general proficiency in English or other languages
~Teacher registration
~Vocational registration
~Taxi driver accreditation
~Legal purposes (e.g. ability of plaintiffs or defendants to understand English)
~Exit proficiency from courses
~Appropriateness of materials for use at different educational levels or in different streams of ESL classes
~The use of ISLPR as a framework within which to develop syllabuses or work programmes
~Any other purposes for which language proficiency is a consideration
