Fishing has been a life long passion of Paul Herron’s ever since his childhood, where he used to fish Port Phillip Bay, a local to Port Melbourne “all the good spots were right at his back door as a kid”, targeting everything from Flathead to Snapper,Gummys, Coota, and alike through to bream and whiting, in fact, if it had fins and swam Paul was there to have a crack at it.

Moving to NQ in the 80's, Paul soon accustomed himself to fishing the reef & local
rivers by working in the local commercial fishing industry as well as fishing for fun. It didn’t take long for him to recognize a distinct lack of purpose built equipment for
fishing for the regions hard pulling species both in the creeks and out on the reefs, so the next generation of ‘custom rod builder’ was born.

Early on in the piece, Paul teamed up with local guru Keith Graham of Bransfords
Tackle, a relationship that remains strong today, and started producing nationally
recognized rods such as the Bransfords Bush Pigs, Tropical Series and the Bransfords Branded G.Loomis 667- The Big Barra Buster’.

With Paul's 25yrs experience of building custom fishing rods & reel servicing, he has made a name for himself as the ‘go to guy’ for Lizard Island Resort’s own record holding Game boats, ‘Fasination’ and ‘Fasination II’ as well as the Cairns & port Douglas game fishing fraternity. Many local and interstate Guides and Charter Operators also utilize Paul’s uncanny ability to build a rod that is ‘right for the job’ and hundreds if not thousands of recreational anglers can’t be wrong as his name spreads through fishing genres nation wide.

Over the past couple of years Paul’s specialized rods have found themselves in even more exotic locations both nationally and internationally including Kingfish Jig Sticks on Lord Howe Island, Stand-up 80lb Bent Butts used on the SBT’s in both South Australia and New Zealand and Bait-casters on steroids used to target the renowned Black Bass in PNG.
