Welcome to Goonawarra Neighbourhood House
We are a not for profit organisation offering a range of activities as dictated by the needs of its community. The House has been operating out of 8 Gullane Drive, Sunbury since it was officially opened in April 1990.

We use an asset-based community-driven development approach (ABCD) Asset-based community-driven development (ABCD), or just asset-based community development, is a bottom-up way of working with communities that focuses on community strengths and assets.
ABCD focuses on the half full glass. The half empty glass represents the notion that communities are deficient and have needs. The half full glass represents the notion that communities (and the people who live there) have many strengths, capacities and assets. It is the half full glass that gives us something to work with.

A neighbourhood that is portrayed as resourceful and gifted will be more likely to draw upon the skills of local people to address issues and solve problems. Outside assistance and resources may still be required but the agenda will be set by the local community. People in these neighbourhoods are positioned as engaged citizens, capable of shaping their futures. Call us if you want to join in 9740 6627
