Gilmore College is the only state school for girls in the western suburbs of Melbourne. It is an amazing place with a long history. The name changed in 1996 from Footscray Girls Secondary College in honour of Dame Mary Gilmore, a poet, journalist and strident campaigner against discrimination.
The school has formerly been known as:
1925 Footscray Domestic Arts School.
1939 Footscray Girls Secondary School.
1966 Footscray Girls High School.
