Frantik Designs are the fearlessly colourful and bold original designs created and hand painted
by Cairns artist Heather McCoy.
I am a self taught artist and began painting on flowerpots as a hobby in 1988 when I moved to Cairns from New Zealand. I sold them at Rustys Markets for several years.
In 1996 painting became my full time occupation.
I called my business Frantik Designs because I work at such a frantic pace.
Over the years I have owned 2 retail shops and designed and created many products including chairs, tables, lamps, mirrors and clocks. I am best known for my hand painted tile coasters and my iconic crazy cross-eyed emu.
Every item that I sell is an original, painted by me. I do not use any stencils, stickers, decals or digital enhancement in the production of my artwork.
I just love to paint!
I was inspired to learn pottery in 2012, and I now produce my own wheelthrown functional pieces decorated in my trademark colours and style.
Currently I work from my home studio along with the help of my husband Adrian, creating many gift and souvenir lines which are sold in stores throughout Australia. On the weekends we can be found at local markets around Cairns, including Cairns Esplanade every Saturday and various locations on Sundays. Please check my website for market dates and venues.
