Carnarvon is a coastal town situated 900 kilometres north of Perth with a population of 5,787 (2011 Census). Carnarvon's industries include: fishing, horticulture, mining and tourism.

Planning for the new Carnarvon Community College commenced in 2009 with impetus from the three school communities to ensure young people and their families had access to high quality education in first class facilities. The College caters for 700 students.

For 2015 the College will operate on two campuses. Planning includes provision for secondary students to move to the new site to create a K - 12 College on a single campus.

We are committed to creating the best possible learning environment for our students.

We believe that excellent learning can only come through high quality teaching and sound educational leadership. The college has a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy; supported by committed teachers, Literacy and Numeracy Specialists and a dedicated leadership team.

A School Chaplain, School Psychologist, a dedicated Dental Therapy unit and a planned Medical facility accommodating the School Nurse support the College commitment to student health and wellbeing in a caring and nurturing environment.

We place significant focus on the College's early years learning and teaching programme which is staffed by accomplished teaching and support staff.

The College provides a general music programme and an acknowledged instrumental music programme. Students from both Primary and Secondary years are offered the opportunity to learn the clarinet or brass instruments and aspire to be performers in the school band.

Additional programs supporting student development include

* Clontarf Academy
* Follow the Dream
* Aboriginal Kindergarten Programme
* Primary Years Community Engagement Programme.
* Language and Numeracy Skills Enrichment in the Early Years of Schooling.

The Carnarvon Community College has developed strong links with the University of WA through the Aspire programme; Durack TAFE, the mining sector and the local business and industry community. Additionally we have a strong working relationship with local government, local business and industry and the Gascoyne Development Commission in support of student aspirations.

We seek to instil community commitment, confidence and high expectations for lifelong learning in a safe and happy learning environment.
