Best Western Ipswich has been a part of Ipswich since 1982. Since then it has undergone many transformations on the inside while remaining much the same on the outside, with the exceptions being the modern railings and colours and the solar panels on the roof. The fresh, comfortable interiors have been renovated several times, and the road-facing windows have all been double-glazed so that traffic noise, once a problem, is an issue no more. The sub-tropical gardens are a feature commented upon favourably by many guests.

Most of all, great attention has been paid to our beds and bedding, which regularly receive compliments from our guests.

The Heritage on-site licensed restaurant, which is open for breakfast every day and for dinner every night except Sunday, is a delight, and features a grand piano which is played regularly.

The Heritage has an extensive menu and caters for most tastes. It has loads of ambience. The meals are traditional fare, featuring old favourites like potato and leek soup, oysters kilpatrick, rib-eye steaks, chicken parmigiana, sticky date pudding to name a few. The food is prepared with great skill and care, using only the best ingredients from local suppliers. Prices range from $6 for the least expensive entrée to $32 for the most expensive main course.

With a seating capacity of around thirty, it’s no food barn. There’s a nice vibe, friendly and attentive but not intrusive. The lighting is subdued and indirect. It’s a good place in which to relax, unwind and forget the world’s troubles for a while.

Your hosts Jenny and Evan Thompson and their staff will do their utmost to help you have a memorable evening, and Evan, who is pretty deft at the piano, will contribute some pleasant sounds and even play requests. There’s nowhere else in Ipswich where that happens!

Don’t be deterred by the fact that The Heritage is located within a motel: it’s a seriously good restaurant, and if you try it once you will find yourself going back many times.
