Basketry Gathering Australia 2.73

The Australasian Basketry Gathering is held every 2 years in a different State or Territory in Australia.

The first "gathering" was held in September 1987 in Bordertown SA after the President of the Fibre Basketweavers of SA (Jean Lange) and Sally King (then living in Victoria) proposed a get-together.
(This was following the Reeds and Sticks Conference organised by Rosemary-Beth Rem and held in Melbourne from 17th-27th January 1986 and led to the formation of the Basketmakers of Victoria shortly after.)

A second gathering was proposed for 1989 and was held in Nhill Vic, but in-between another get-together was held at the Bordertown Motel in Sept 1988.
