My philosophy in teaching:
In my approach to teaching I strive to challenge the dancers both mentally and physically. I use a combination of quick, precise exercises as well as exercises that take a high level of control and attention to detail to be able to perform well. I focus on giving encouraging feed back in a positive and enjoyable environment whilst working on improving the dancers posture, weight placement, alignment and stamina, when we get to Allegro.
A little about me:
British-born, I am a Royal Ballet School trained dancer who has performed with companies in the UK, South Africa and Australia. My repertoire includes roles in many classical and neo-classical pieces, and I have often worked with emerging choreographers to create roles in numerous new dance works.
In 2008 I joined the South African Ballet Theatre. I was quickly promoted to Soloist and performed various lead roles including: the Prince in Cinderella, Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake and the Prince in The Nutcracker.
I left South Africa in 2011 to take up a position with Queensland Ballet (QB). During my time with QB I performed extensively in mainstage works by François Klaus and productions by world renowned choreographers, including: Ben Stevenson, Nils Christe, Ai-gul Gaisina and Ma Cong.
I retired from professional dance in 2014 and now I am dedicated to passing on what I learned during my career to the next generation of dancers.
