AFL North East Border is the governing body for Australian Rules football in the Region and affiliated to AFL Victoria Country.
Established in 2013 following the 2011 AFL Review into Country Football, an 8 person independent Commission was appointed based on professional skills set, previous experience in a sporting environment and an understanding of regional and rural communities to strategically govern the direction of the game in key development areas whilst providing local solutions for local issues.
Operationally, the cornerstone to the Commissions function is the AFLNEB Regional Administration Centre with offices in both Wodonga and Wangaratta. Known as the RAC, the administrative operations of AFLNEB includes League Management of the OKFNL, TDFL, UMFNL and the WDJFL, Game and Club Development, Auskick and School Football and the AFLNEB Umpiring Department. The RAC is vital to the management and development of the game with all departments working in collaboration.
The scope of responsibility for AFLNEB includes over 55 clubs in 6 leagues and 200 Umpires across 11 Local Government Areas and is supported by a Region General Manager, 2 Leagues Operations Managers, 3 Football Development Managers, 1 Umpire Manager and 3 part time staff with specific areas of expertise in Finance, Media & Communications and Business & Administration.
