Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board 3.85

Managing natural resources is about caring for our land, water, plants and animals - balancing peoples’ needs with those of nature.

The Adelaide and Mt Lofty Ranges natural resources management region stretches from Cape Jervis to Kapunda, including the Adelaide metro area, the western Mt Lofty Ranges and Barossa Valley.

The region’s landscapes are biologically diverse and home to half of our state’s native plant species and three-quarters of the state’s native birds. The region also contains some of our state’s most productive primary industries, supplies local and international markets and, on a wider scale, contributes to South Australia’s economic and social wellbeing.

Our work is set out in the Natural Resources Management Plan which establishes priorities and targets for managing, protecting and in some cases, restoring the region's precious natural resources. Work to protect and enhance the region’s natural resources is supported by the Adelaide and Mt Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board and funded through the NRM Levy.
