Global Climate Change impacts on every sphere of society, on every environmental niche, will touch every region of the globe and will reshape human-environment systems as never experienced before. Mountain regions are particularly vulnerable and disproportionately affected by this change. Adverse effects of climate change only exacerbate the high exposure to changing environmental conditions that mountain societies are confronted with.

It is the philosophy of alpS not only to minimize negative effects of global climate change, but also to seize the opportunities for innovation and development that come along. Adopting an open risk-management approach in all its endeavours, be it energy and risk consulting or climate adaptation research, alpS maintains a positive and optimistic outlook on the future. We believe that by adhering to principles of sustainability, by building capacities to adapt, by developing appropriate technologies and strategies, and by effectively managing our risk, alpS will contribute to the protection and development of mountain regions around the world.
