WAS IST AERIAL?

Aerial (übersetzt "luftig" bzw. "Luft") bedeutet im sportlichen Sinne das Turnen und Tanzen auf vielen denkbaren herabhängenden Geräten. Am bekanntesten ist wohl das Trapez. Unser Haupt Aerial-Gerät sind die langen vertikalen Tücher. Da der Luft keine Grenzen gesetzt sind, haben wir auch Geräte wie Aerial Cube, Aerial Hoop, Aerial Net, Aerial Chains, Aerial Rope und vieles mehr.

In unseren Kursen tasten wir uns langsam heran, unsere Körper in der Luft zu beherrschen und die Techniken für ausgeklügelte Performances in der Luft zu erlernen. Auch wenn es vielleicht anfangs noch schwer vorstellbar ist, bauen wir durch das Training in den Kursen die notwendige Kraft und Flexibilität für diese atemberaubende Akrobatik auf.

WHAT ARE AERIAL ARTS?

When we speak of aerial arts, we refer to dancing or performing on an apparatus that is suspended from the ceiling. There are many different aerial disciplines (the most familiar one probably being the trapeze). At Aerial Silk Vienna, we offer a variety of them – including aerial cube, hoop, net, rope, … We mainly focus on silks though: two pieces of soft fabric that we climb, wrap ourselves in, drop into or spin with. Audiences around the world are captivated by this impressive form of movement that combines elements of dance and acrobatics.

In our classes we work on different techniques for moving our bodies up in the air. Even though it might be hard to imagine in the beginning – we gradually build up the strength and flexibility (and also the courage) we need for breathtaking acrobatic performances.
