Our Philosophy
Learning Through Play
Learning through play is a child centered process, allowing children to develop at their individual pace. The role of the teachers at the Nursery is to gently direct and guide the child through exploration, learning and practice.
The young mind is like a sponge, soaking up all that she/he observes and directly experiences. Therefore, our early childhood British Curriculum aims to encompass the following important areas in child development:
Personal Hygiene
Learning the daily life skills of washing, tidying up, etc.
Cultural Studies
Topic work includes simple age appropriate matters from sciences and the arts. For example life cycles, people, places, transport, animals, National Functions (Eid, National Day etc.)
Social Skills
These skills involve appropriate interaction with adults and peers, sharing, turn taking and etiquette. The Nursery organizes functions (sports day, fancy dress competition etc.) for physical, emotional and social development of the child.
Language Development
Teaching effective listening and speaking skills in English and Arabic, recognition of phonetic sounds and bilingual mode of instruction offering English as a second language. We will also be introducing Montessori materials to the children between the ages of 2 and a half and 4 years.
Mathematical Skills
Identification of numbers concept taught through rhymes and play based activities.
Physical development
Our well-equipped safe indoor and outdoor play area encourages gross motor development, which is essential in early childhood.
Aesthetics
Taught through painting, coloring, and craft activities. Here the child is free to explore/express and develop his or her creative sense and fine motor skills.
Parents are encouraged to work with staff and become partners in their child’s education. We ensure that a close relationship is formed and maintained between home and the Nursery.
